New specification for September AS Chemistry (Edexcel) King's Cross Centre 1 year - Year 1 Level 3 What will I study? You will study two externally marked papers (each counting for 50% of your final grade): - Paper 1: Core Inorganic and Physical Chemistry - this will include Atomic theory: Structure and Bonding: Redox: Periodic Table and Calculations involving amounts of substances - Paper 2 : Core Organic and Physical Chemistry - this will include Organic chemistry: Modern analytical methods: Energetics: Kinetics and Equilibrium A2 Chemistry (Edexcel) King's Cross Centre 1 year - Year 2 Level 3 What will I study? You will study three externally marked papers: - Paper 1: Advanced Inorganic and Physical Chemistry (30% of your total grade), including your AS Level topics plus Equilibrium part 2, Energetics part 2, Redox part 2, Acid-Base equilibrium and Transition metals. - Paper 2: Advanced Organic and Physical Chemistry (30% of your total grade), including your AS Level topics plus Organic chemistry part 2, Modern analytical chemistry part 2 and Kinetics part 2. - Paper 3: General and Practical Principles of Chemistry (40% of your total grade), a synoptic paper which will include questions to assess your understanding of the experimental methods met in the course. Important information Chemistry is an essential subject for many university courses, including anyone wishing to pursue a career in medicine, veterinary medicine, dentistry, biochemistry or pharmacy.
