This exciting Introduction to Hairdressing and Beauty course is an established qualification from City and Guilds' portfolio. Level 1 will suit you if you are new to the industry and have little or no experience of hairdressing and beauty therapy. It is for learners aged 19+ and provides the skills and knowledge needed to be able to learn about and offer the basic hairdressing and beauty treatments, to build upon your interest and passion for the hair and beauty industry. The course will include shampooing & styling of women's hair including blow-drying, setting and long hair work, plaiting & twisting techniques, and basic manicure & pedicure treatments. There will also be opportunities to go on trips relevant to the hairdressing and beauty industry. You may be entitled to a free course, contact the centre for further details.

Learners will be expected to complete study at home and will need to practice all treatments in-between sessions. The course is assessed entirely by coursework therefore students need to have good time management skills and be able to work to targets and deadlines. Practical assessments will be carried out in the salon following training and practice. Theory work covers working practices and procedures, basic anatomy and physiology. Entry requirements

2 lever arch folders, coloured dividers, plastic wallets, pen, and paper. You will be asked to purchase a professional uniform and kit, and you will be expected to wear the uniform at all times when in the salon.
