This is a two academic year programme, starting in September. Attendance to all aspects of the study programme is required, typically 3-4 days per week on campus and a 5th day in work placement. COURSE CONTENT This new Technical qualification from City and Guilds is for students who are interested in studying both theory and practical aspects of the following topics:Health and wellbeing, husbandry and handlingNutrition and feedingHorse behaviours and welfare Students may also study additional optional topics, including:Prepare horses for presentationBiological systems of horsesThe principles of competition groomingExercising horses To achieve this level 3, students will be required to complete a total of two external assessments in year 1. Students will also be assessed using a range of practical demonstrations and written assignments. Students must also complete 150 hours of work experience alongside attendance at college to achieve this qualification.Typical placements may include Livery yards, Studs and competition yards. PROGRESSION Upon successful completion, students can progress to Level 3 Advanced Technical Extended Diploma in Equine Management (year 2). The Level 3 Advanced Technical Certificate, Diploma and Extended Diplomas in Equine Management could lead to the following employment opportunities: Stable yard worker Exercising assistant Competition groom Event supervisor Retail saddlery assistant Apprentice saddle fitter Country store retail assistant Yard office Manager Stud Supervisor Freelance groom/rider
