Archaeology is the study of humans from 2.6 million years ago to the present day through the material remains they left behind. It is studied via artefacts, landscapes, environmental evidence, buildings, burials and science. You will learn about the methods and techniques used by archaeologists to find, record and interpret sites and artefacts; you will gain an understanding of the importance and significance of monuments; you will learn about past cultures, appreciate more fully landscapes shaped by human activity and develop skills in research and analysis. Areas of study include: the archaeology of religion and ritual in prehistoric Europe, world archaeology, archaeological skills, methods and investigation.
