The Level 2 Diploma in Beauty Specialist Techniques is a course that has been specifically designed to develop your practical skills in: providing eyelash and brow treatments, removing hair using waxing techniques, applying make-up, manicure and pedicure and skincare. To further enhance your skills you will have the opportunity to do additional commercial skills throughout the year, such as a gel varnish certificate and eyelash extensions. The aim of the course is to make you competent and confident in the skills that salons require, which will make you employable within the beauty sector. Not only will you learn the practical skills of each unit, you will gain experience in client care and how to work within the health and safety guidelines expected by industry regulations. You will very quickly be working on fee paying clients to gain good communication skills, outstanding client care and customer service and the experience of dealing with a variety of clients' needs in a professional manner. This full time course involves learning anatomy and physiology, as students must understand the effect that treatments have on the body and skin. You will also learn about health and safety considerations, client care and communication skills. Students will learn how to work effectively within the salon environment, health spas and cruise liners. Student could also consider working as a self-employed or mobile therapist on successful completion of this course.We also encourage you to take advantage of commercial training days throughout the year such as Gel Nails and Air Brush Make up. This always looks good on your CV! You will also enter the Make up competition under the '’create an image' unit which allows you to show off your skills and pass assessments.

The practical and written work is also internally verified by other members of staff as a quality check and then an external verifier from the Awarding Body comes in twice per year to check our systems and procedures. There are continual practical assessments, written assessment questions, internal and external written exams, case studies, and a portfolio of evidence for your practical treatments. Entry requirements
