This course is aimed for students who need to retake their GCSE English, or take it for the first time. This is a one year course which covers the GCSE Syllabus. It is a more practical application of the English Language than other GCSE courses with a focus on how you would use English in your everyday life. This course is examined via an exam and coursework. It combines well with other courses. This course is an alternative to GCSE English. It does not allow progression to further English study/essay based courses, so should be taken by students who are definite this is not the route they wish to pursue. It complements programmes which have an emphasis on practical skills. Students are required to have attained a high grade in English for most jobs and university places; so achieving this will enable students to apply to further/higher education courses and employment.
