This course is a unique opportunity for those employed in teaching assistant roles. The only qualification of its kind in Yorkshire, it offers enhanced professional development to expand your understanding and boost your skills. The Teaching Assistants Foundation Degree has been developed to address a gap in opportunities for teaching assistant professionals. The role of teaching assistant is expanding and there are excellent opportunities for trained staff. Learning on the course will be a combination of college sessions, workplace practice and independent study. At level 4, topics you will study relate to children's development and learning, managing and leading practice, safeguarding, the rights of the child and collaborative working with teachers. At level 5, you will focus on supporting learning in key National Curriculum subjects, including contemporary issues and special educational needs. You will also explore issues relating to current educational and legislative practice and be involved in independent research. There will also be a focus on supporting children with special educational needs.
