The study of A level Media Studies allows students to enhance their appreciation and enjoyment of the media, while developing a greater understanding of its powerful role in their everyday lives, in a rapidly changing 21st century world. Students will engage with a diverse range of audio-visual and print-based media texts, to develop a foundation for sophisticated critical analysis, together with subject specialist language. The media texts studied will include: Television sequences Film extracts Advertisements Music videos Newspaper front pages Magazines Radio sequences Websites Computer game extracts DVD sleeves CD sleeves The course offers a combination of both practical and analytical studies, as students are encouraged to create their own authentic media texts. This course is contemporary and engaging, as well as challenging, and provides excellent opportunities for progression to related higher education degree courses.
