The airport and airline industry is one of the fastest growing sectors in the Travel and Tourism industry both locally and nationally. This qualification is designed for those interested in a career within this exciting sector. If you would like to work in a rapidly expanding industry with the opportunity to travel to a wide range of exciting destinations then this course could be ideal for you. The BTEC Level 3 Subsidiary Diploma/Diploma will provide you with a general introduction to aviation and, with our help, you will learn the essential skills, knowledge and understanding required for you to work well as a member of airport or airline staff. The aviation industry is constantly changing, adapting and growing and ground staff have an extremely responsible role in ensuring security, health and safety and high customer service standards are upheld from the initial check-in to boarding the aircraft. The course is taught by experienced professionals who have worked in the aviation industry. You can choose to study this course over one year leaving with a qualification equivalent to one A level, or over two years for a qualification equivalent to two A levels. The Aviation course includes: Passenger Terminal Management; Handling Air Passengers; Aircraft Marshalling; Health, Safety and Security within the Airport; Managing Conflict.

Assessment is also carried out overseas on residential trips. Cabin Crew skills are assessed in class and mock cabin. Assignments may include reports, task sheets, role-plays, videos and practicals. Entry requirements

The course will include a one-week residential to a European resort (cost approx. £350). There will also be a trip to Nottingham East Midlands or Heathrow Airport for Cabin Crew training (approx. £35) with various other trips and activities planned. You must wear uniform and purchase a white shirt and black trousers/ skirt and the college aviation scarf or tie costing approximately £8.
