A Level Media Studies enhances a students enjoyment and appreciation of the media and its role in their daily lives. Students will develop skills in critical understanding of the media and have the opportunity to be creative in the application of practical skills. In addition, the course encourages independence in research skills and critical approaches to how the media can influence our beliefs about society as a whole. Due to the analytical and practical approach that the course offers, there are a variety of careers open to students. These may include: designing web-sites, directing in film or television work, production work for film, television, radio or print based sectors, technical aspects of the different sectors, creative ideas in the advertising industry, locations recruiting for film/television/advertising industries, writing for comedy/drama/film/radio sectors.
