UPDATED 20161109 16:28:48

Psychology is the scientific study of the human mind and the way that individuals behave. Everyday concerns for many people such as stress, memory loss and the experience of phobias are examples of issues in which psychologists are interested. You will study a variety of areas within this subject including the influence of biological factors on behaviour, cognitive processes such as memory, social behaviour, abnormal behaviour and how individuals develop from birth. There will be an emphasis on the scientific nature of psychology, particularly in relation to how psychologists carry out investigations using experimental methods, observations and surveys within the context of the topics being studied. People with a psychology qualification work in a variety of fields including counselling, nursing and sports, as well as occupational, clinical or educational psychology.
