Students are encouraged to take a broad view of design and technology through the exploration of textiles techniques. The course enables students to develop their capacity to design and make textile products and gives an understanding of the relationship between design, materials, manufacture and marketing.

The written paper is based primarily on Materials and Components and the coursework may take a number of forms; a single design-and-make project, two smaller projects and/or portfolio of work. In A2 the assessment comprises a two hour written paper based primarily on Design and Manufacture and the coursework which consists of a single, substantial designing and making activity.
