The BTEC Level 3 Subsidiary Diploma in Music (Performing) offers a specialist qualification that covers the key knowledge and practical skills required in a musical vocational sector. It consists of one mandatory unit plus at least one specialist unit with the option of studying both specialist units. With one mandatory unit and one specialist unit, another four optional units will be selected to study. All units are worth 10 credits each and the programme is made up of 60 credits in total. At least 45 of these credits must be at Level 3 or above. The BTEC Level 3 Subsidiary Diploma offers greater flexibility and a choice of emphasis through the optional units. It is broadly equivalent to one GCE A Level and will be studied over two years.
