The AS level consists of 2 units of work. Students will be introduced to a wide variety of textile media and techniques including; print surface decoration fabric manipulation and hand and machine embroidery. The creation of Art pieces interior and fashion items can be created using traditional or non-traditional methods. Drawing skills for textile and fashion design will be developed using various media. Students will be expected to produce a folio of work for each unit which consists of practical work and relevant research into historical and contemporary textiles or fashion. The use of sketchbooks is also important and students will be encouraged to use these for preparatory work research and homework. For students who wish to go on to complete the A2 level in the second year a further 2 units are studied. This is an opportunity to develop individual interests and build upon knowledge and skills gained in the AS course. Hours of lessons per week 4.3 Indicative group size 18
