Geography AS Level

Contemporary Geography is a subject which engages with the relationship of human populations to each other and their relationship with their physical environment. Geography studies these relationships in space and time and also at a variety of scales from the local to the global. Fieldwork forms an essential part of geographical studies and is undertaken by the AS group on a residential field course to the Isle of Wight in November. The AS course consists of Unit 1. Physical and Human Geography Rivers Population Coasts and Health Issues Unit 2 Geographical Skills including Fieldwork The A2 course consists of Unit 3. Contemporary Geographical Issues Plate tectonics Ecosystems Contemporary Conflicts. Unit 4. Geography Fieldwork Investigation.

Name: Geography AS Level Qualification title: GCE AS Level in Geography Qualification type: Assessment The Unit 2 (AS) exam will be taken in January; this is worth 15% of the A Level. The Unit 1 (AS) exam is taken in the summer making up 35% of the A Level comprising of structured and extended questions. Unit 4 (A2) will be taken in January of the A2 year and is worth 20% of the A Level. Unit 3 taken in the Summer is worth 30%.
