This course will enrich your appreciation of literary texts by giving you the opportunity to read a variety of genres, discuss different ways of interpreting texts and investigate ways poems, plays and novels are influenced by social, cultural and historical contexts. English Literature will develop your skills of analysis, debate and imaginative thinking as well as the quality of your written work. You will follow AQA Specification A. Where Will An A Level In English Literature Lead Me? While in the Sixth Form at Brigg, English will complement a number of other A Level subjects e.g. History, Drama, Media, French and German, as well as providing an interesting contrast for students taking Sciences or Mathematics. It develops a range of skills which, in combination with other A Levels, will provide a suitable entry qualification for a Degree course. A Degree in English can lead to a variety of professions e.g. Law, Journalism, Teaching, Management.
