Design And Technology: Product Design (3-D Design) AS & A2 Level The course builds on knowledge and skills developed in years 10 and 11 as part of GCSE Technology. A Level Design Technology follows the AQA syllabus and is called "PRODUCT DESIGN" 3D Design. Course Format The two-year course is split into 4 units. Unit 1 - PROD1 Materials, Components and Application 50% of AS, 25% of A Level 2 hour written paper Based primarily on Materials and Components and consisting of three sections Unit 2 - PROD2 Learning Through Designing and Making Coursework Project 50% of AS, 25% of A Level Written (or electronic) design portfolio and manufactured outcome Unit 3 - PROD3 Design and Manufacture 25% of A Level 2 hour written paper based primarily on Design and Manufacture and consisting of two sections Unit 4 - PROD4 Design and Making Practice Coursework Project 25% of A Level Written (or electronic) design folder plus manufactured outcome. Candidates submit evidence of a substantial designing and making activity Who Will Teach Me? Mrs Robbins and Mr Savage at The Vale Academy. What Entry Requirements Do I Need? An "A* - C" grade in any Technology subject. These comprise of Resistant Materials, Graphic Products, Systems and Control or Product Design. In units 1 and 4, assessment is carried out by the teaching staff in school (local) and then by external moderation. How Will I Be Assessed? In units 1 and 3, assessment is through external examination. In units 2 and 4, assessment is carried out by the teaching staff in school (local) and then by external moderation.
