FAMILY CARE SKILLS - LEVEL 1 & LEVEL 2

This course will develop your knowledge of working in health and social care and children's settings and prepare you for progression to Level 2 study in the 'care' profession of your choice. You will develop a range of skills, techniques and knowledge in providing care and a good understanding of the principles of care. You will develop interpersonal skills essential for working successfully with children, young people and adults. The course is suitable for school leavers and college students who would like a career in child education or health care services and wish to progress to Level 2 study and eventually into the caring profession of your choice. You will study: * Craft Activities with Children and Young People * The Principles of Listening to Children * The Foundations of Trust in Families * Understanding Physical Disabilities * Providing Personal Care in Care Settings * The Principles of Care, Organisational Policies and the Role of the Care workers * Interpersonal Skills * Work Experience * Teamwork Skills There are a combination Level 1 and Level 2 units on the course. You will undertake a period of work placement of 30 hours. All students aged 16 -19 are required to study Functional English and maths qualifications or GCSE maths and English if not already awarded a grade C/4 or higher in these subjects. If you have a grade D/3 at GCSE you will study maths and/or English GCSE. Students with a grade lower than D/3 will work towards GCSE through the study of maths and English Functional Skills. Students aged 19+ are strongly encouraged to take relevant maths and English qualifications to support progression into further or higher education, training or employment.
