This course is designed for students wishing to gain employment in the Health & Social Care sectors or to progress onto further study at a higher level. This course will emphasise the development of both academic and practical skills and the associated understanding related to the health and social care sector. The course will provide students with the knowledge and skills for employment in the sector as well as developing personal qualities and attitudes essential for a successful career. It will also include specialist studies relevant to individual professions within the health and social care sector such as sociology, psychology and research skills. After one year students will gain a level 4 HNC which can be presented to employers or other academic institutions. This course is suitable for students who are aged 18 years and over, who are capable of reaching the required standards and who wish to develop careers or retrain and work in health and social care services. You will study a range of units relevant to health and social care including the mandatory units in subjects such as: * Communicating in Health and Social Care * Principles of Health and Social Care * Health and Safety * Personal and Professional Development * Understanding Specific Needs in Health & Social Care * Working in Partnership A choice of optional units will be run alongside according to sector health needs and staff specialisms. These may include: * Communicating in Health and Social Care * Principles of Health and Social Care * Health and Safety * Personal and Professional Development * Understanding Specific Needs in Health & Social Care * Working in Partnership All LMC students receive tutorial support, advice and guidance throughout units and an emphasis on study skills.
