MUSIC PRACTITIONER - LEVEL 3

This course is for students who have a desire to work in the music industry, some experience producing music, playing a musical instrument or singing and want to develop their skills and techniques as a musician, composer and/or music producer. The course combines performance and production skills with creativity, using advances in computer music and digital recording technology to produce compositions for commercial release. In addition students will have a broad insight into to the music business with input from lecturers who are experienced musicians and visiting industry practitioners. The course is suitable for school leavers and adults who would like a career in the music industry or go into higher education or who are progressing from a related level 2 programme. PERFORMANCE Learners will: * perform effectively on their instrument/voice * rehearse and display musicianship skills * initiate and develop repertoire * rehearse effectively and perform music live * understand contextual issues relating to music style, audience and the music industry * understand relevant aspects of music technology TECHNOLOGY Learners will demonstrate: * sound recording skills * mixing and mastering skills * sequencing and production skills * live sound skills * radio programming skills * video production skills * understanding of contextual issues relating to music technology BUSINESS Learners will demonstrate: * sound business and financial skills * marketing skills * understanding of music contracts * media communication skills * freelance practice * artist management and artist representation skills * event management skills All LMC students will receive tutorial support.
