MUSIC PRACTITIONER - LEVEL 2

The Level 2 Music Practitioner course is for students who want to take their interest and passion for music to the next level by developing their skills in performance, technology, business or composition. For non-instrumentalists, the technology and business pathways provide a route towards working in the pop music industry. The aim of the various pathways is to equip learners with various music industry relevant skills so students can progress in a variety of ways. The course is suitable for school leavers and adults who would like a career in the music, performance and entertainment industries or who are progressing from relevant level 1 courses. PERFORMANCE Learners will: * perform effectively on their instrument/voice * rehearse and display musicianship skills * initiate and develop repertoire * rehearse effectively and perform music live * understand contextual issues relating to music style, audience and the music industry * understand relevant aspects of music technology TECHNOLOGY Learners will demonstrate: * sound recording skills * mixing and mastering skills * sequencing and production skills * live sound skills * radio programming skills * video production skills * understanding of contextual issues relating to music technology BUSINESS Learners will demonstrate: * sound business and financial skills * marketing skills * understanding of music contracts * media communication skills * freelance practice * artist management and artist representation skills * event management skills All students aged 16-19 are required to study functional English and maths qualifications or GCSE Maths and/or English if not already awarded a GCSE grade C/4 or higher in these subjects. Students aged 19+ are strongly encouraged to take relevant maths and English qualifications to support progression to further or higher education, training or employment.
