This course is designed to give you a broad range of cookery skills and research into the hospitality industry. The practical classes will include food preparation and food service. The theory lessons will cover the essential knowledge and will complement the required assignment work. The course is suitable for school leavers and adults who would like a career in the catering and hospitality sector - food preparation and cooking, and food and drink service. You will study the following: * Health and Safety * Food Hygiene * Healthy Eating * Kitchen Operations * Costs and Menu Planning * Legislation in Food and Beverage Service * Menu Knowledge and Design * Service of Hot Beverages * Food and Beverage Service Skills All students aged 16-19 are required to study functional English and maths qualifications or GCSE maths and/or English if not already awarded a GCSE grade C/4 or higher in these subjects. Students aged 19+ are strongly encouraged to take relevant maths and English qualifications to support progression to further or higher education, training or employment. All LMC students will receive tutorial support.
