Students will be introduced to a variety of experiences exploring a range of photographic techniques and skills. The course covers both chemical and digital photography. Underpinning photographic work will be the use of sketchbooks, digital workbooks and journals. Although this course will require students to use imagination and think creatively, students are not required to demonstrate drawing skills in this option, unless they wish to. Students will investigate an array of resources relating to photography as well as a range of photographic artists. This is an involving subject and you will be required to work hard, both in and outside of the classroom to build up a body of work, it is important not to expect this course to be a soft option. The study areas and skills covered will include: portraiture, documentary andor photojournalism, landscape, urban, rural coastal environment, working from objects, still life or the natural world, the camera, technical and practical skills of developing, printing, presentation, viewpoint digital and conventional photographic techniques.
