UPDATED 20161104 10:42:23

English Literature reveals aspects of the meaning of life and challenges all who study it. Students will explore the rich variety of literature in English with this exciting A level, which allows them to focus on poetry, prose and drama across cultures and historical periods. Students will learn about the techniques and evolution of poetry, prose and drama in modules, while also seeing how the English literary tradition has developed when focusing on specific texts. Students will study a wide range of texts, linked by a common theme, within their historical and cultural contexts. The modules are mainly exam assessed, in which the student asserts and explores critical viewpoints. Use is made of theatre performances, videos and wider critical sources to aid understanding.
