A Level Drama and Theatre Studies

This is a fun yet challenging course that develops the students ability to research, to write, to communication, as well as developing skills of analysis and interpretation needed for University. Students are required to achieve a balance of academic knowledge and practical skills. Students will watch live performances and study texts of different periods, genres and styles. They will develop practical theatre skills through design and performance, ensemble work, mime movement, physical theatre, voice, directing, improvisationrole play, acting techniques and characterisation. This course is for those who enjoy both watching and taking part in drama. Students gain a deep appreciation of drama and theatre from this course, which also provides them with a strong cultural arts base and opportunity to investigate contemporary issues and communicate them. As part of the course students will be expected to take part in theatre visits to support their studies.
