UPDATED 20170116 14:53:15

Are you/do you… • interested in how the world works? • able to think “outside the box”? • ready for an exciting new challenge? The course is 100% exam assessed. At AS, this specification will enable candidates to develop an understanding of, and an insight into, micro and macroeconomics: • The operation of markets and market failure • The National Economy in a global context At A2, candidates develop the micro and macroeconomics already learnt at AS, considering economic concepts and theories in greater depth and recognising the values and limitations of economic models. Both A Level modules explore two contemporary and relevant contexts: the global context, which includes the impact of globalisation on UK economic performance; and the European Union context, embracing the effect of EU membership and economic policy on the UK economy: • Individuals, firms, markets and market failure • The National and International Economy As well as being equipped to handle modern life with a broad knowledge of economics, there are a number of university choices and career options where having A-level economics is preferable or, in some cases, absolutely necessary. Having A-level economics shows you have the ability to analyse and understanding economic subjects, as well as having a sound financial knowledge and essay-writing skills. Universities value A Level Economics due to its rigorous, academic nature and the evaluative skills that students develop whilst studying this subject. Possible career choices A-level economics can offer you include accountancy, stockbroker, banker and financial and business-related careers, however most require a higher level of education. A-level economics can lead you to degrees in economics, business studies, social sciences, engineering and many more.
