UPDATED 20161103 17:13:02

GPL A Level - Government and Politics is about understanding how the world is governed. It explores the interactions between individuals, political parties and political institutions. In the first year students will study British politics, initially focussing on how individuals can participate through investigating the nature of democracy, political parties, pressure groups and elections. The course then examines the political institutions in the UK, our constitution, parliament, the Prime Minister and the judiciary. In the second year, students will study the different approaches to global politics and global political issues, learning how the United Nations and other international governmental organisations operate. This will include discussion of important issues such as terrorism, nuclear weapons and the changing nature of war.
