Economics is about choices and the impact of our choices on each other and the world around us. It relates to every aspect of our lives, from the decisions we make as individuals to the policies and systems created by governments and firms. The economic way of thinking can help us make better choices. We aim to answer questions such as: • Why do prices rise rapidly in some periods of time when they are more stable in other periods? • Why does production and employment expand in some years and contract in others? • What can the government do to promote rapid growth in incomes, low inflation and stable employment? Lessons cover diverse topics such as wealth inequality, interest rates, politics, global markets, employment statistics, environmental issues, standards of living and lots more. The course is made up of macroeconomic topics where you are expected to analyse and understand the "Big Picture", looking at the national and international economy, and microeconomic topics where you look at how individual businesses and their markets work. Students study the course provided by AQA.
