Food safety training is a legal requirement for all businesses that handle food including restaurants hospitals and shops. This enjoyable informal course will teach you all you need to pass the test and work safely in a food environment.Successful candidates will be awarded a Level 2 Food Safety Certificate which is valid for 3 years. What experience or qualification do I need to join this course?Prior knowledge is helpful but not essential. Candidates will be required to read and complete a question paper independently. What is the course about? Understand the difference between pathogenic and spoilage Bacteria how spores are formed and three types of food poisoning Identify the four essentials for bacteria to grow Relate critical temperatures to fo o safety Understand the term cross contamination Explain the importance of personal hygene Understand the difference between cleaning sanitisation and s anitisers State why pests need to be controlled and how Understand the costs of failure to maintain good standards of hygiene For the first session you will need: Nothing - everything will be provided but it may be useful to bring a pen and paper to make notes. How will I know how I am getting on? Your progress and achievements will be recognised and recorded throughout your course in a number of ways. For example: Feedback from tutor Group discussions and practical activities Learner Diary Awarded Certificate in Food Safety Accreditation: HABC Food Safety Level 2 Certificate following a successful multiple choice testing at the end of the course Exam or certificate fee will be paid by LALS on behalf of unemployed learners on the Skills 4 Jobs programme. A course booklet will be provided for background reading.
