Geography is a course which enables students to engage critically with real world issues and places, whilst gaining skills to make sense of the world around them. Picking the subject will put you in the enviable position of being able to form informed judgements on a range of human, physical and environmental issues such as the consequences of globalisation, responses to hazards, and climate change. This course will appeal to those who have an interest in current affairs and the environment, who enjoy travel and finding out about new people, places, and cultures, and who will enjoy the opportunity to work outdoors during fieldwork as well as in class. This variety of skills developed - and the attention to research and problem solving - means that Geography is consistently one of the most highly-regarded by university admissions and employers alike especially in fields such as administration, finance, information, management, marketing and planning. If you are interesting in being inspired and growing as an independent thinker, an informed and engaged global citizen and are keen to understand the role of Geography as one of the key disciplines relevant to understanding the changing world, then this is the course for you.
