The course consists of 3 components 1 Appraising Music - developing Listening / Analysis / Understanding through studying a range of music (40%) 2 Performance - Solo and/or Ensemble as an instrumentalist and/or vocalist - 6 to 8 minutes long (30%) 3 Composition - 2 pieces of original music, from a given brief the other a free composition (30%) The 1st component allows you to study a wide range of music - Western classical tradition 1650 1910 (compulsory) and a choice of 1 of the following Pop music Music for Media Music for Theatre Jazz Contemporary traditional music Art music since 1910
