This course develops the learners' conversational skills in a range of familiar situations at work, study, leisure or whilst travelling abroad. The course will aim to consolidate the effective, and idiomatic, use of the language, extend grammar knowledge and syntactic structures. The course will focus on developing the learners' listening and speaking skills, as well as fluency and accuracy. There will be ample opportunities for participating in discussions, expressing opinions, describing experiences and events, as well as relating the plot of a book or film. The course materials will include references to the culture and society of the country and communities where the language is spoken. Learners will be encouraged to interact in the target language and take a proactive role in discussions, tasks, scenarios and role-plays to develop confidence and fluency. By the end of the course, learners will be able to: - Express viewpoints fluently, spontaneously and at some length - Select the appropriate speech style and register to suit the audience and topic - Make presentations and express ideas in a clear and well-structure way - Understand a range of radio and TV programmes
