What will I do on this study programme? This study programme will be an exciting route into the holistic service industry. The course provides you with knowledge of the principles of face and body massage, and how massage therapists practice. You will learn health, safety and hygiene, human anatomy, physiology and pathology, and how to prepare the treatment area, yourself and your client. You will also demonstrate competence in dealing with clients using the consultation techniques and using information for planning treatments. You will learn the benefits and techniques of massage and be able to provide treatments safely and effectively to clients in different circumstances. You will also learn to reflect on the outcomes of treatments, and offer a series of treatments to achieve a desirable result. This study programme has been specifically designed to develop your knowledge and practical skills which you will be able to put into practice in a real life commercial salon, gaining a realistic view of the ever evolving industry you are about to enter. In addition, all learners are expected to undertake CollegePlus sessions, tutorials, and English and maths development sessions which combined, will prepare learners for further study and/or future employment. How will I be assessed? We will assess you all through the year with online tests, practical work, assignments and projects. You will also have an online gradebook that you will keep up-to-date and you will manage targets that have been set throughout the year for you by your tutor. What options do I have after successfully completing? Progress to Further study programmes in beauty or spa therapy Salon Management, VRQ Diploma, Level 4 Salon Management, Foundation Degree. Job/career opportunities A career such as a massage therapist in a beauty salon or spa.
