What will I do on this BTEC? You will improve your knowledge and practical skills in Information and Communications Technology, including web design and e-commerce, data communications, expert systems and computing. You'll find out about how computer systems work and learn how to use different applications. Assignments are based on workplace situations so you will get a real insight into the careers available in IT and what it is like to work in industry. Dependent upon the units chosen this qualification will suit students who wish to gain practical experience within the IT sector and who want to enter employment in this area. The Subsidiary Diploma earns UCAS points in the same way as A Levels and can, in combination with other Level 3 qualifications, be used by students wishing to apply to university or college. How will I be assessed? You will be assessed via coursework-based methods including observation of practical activities, projects, group work, assignments and presentations. What options do I have after completing this BTEC? Progress to Applied Computing, Foundation Degree followed by a BA (Hons) top-up year, run at Weston College in partnership with the University of the West of England.
