What will I do on this A Level? We are constantly bombarded by the media, consciously and subconsciously. This course is designed to develop your interest in the world of media, to explore why texts are made a certain way and targeted through their mode of address. Through a study of a number of different media platforms you will learn how texts are mediated to underpin certain ideologies and to represent different areas of society. In Media studies you will also have an opportunity to develop your studies through an investigation and practical exploration deconstructing texts and constructing your own. You will look at a number of different media related theories and learn how to apply them to popular texts such as American Dad, James Bond, and Facebook, whilst also looking at the lesser known texts and a variety of audiences How will I be assessed? You will be assessed through exams (50%) and coursework (50%). What options do I have after completing this A Level? Progress to Degree level study at university in media, communications, English, business or a related area. Job/career opportunities Careers could include areas such as journalism, television, broadcasting, film, writing or teaching.
