This course is for those who wish to pursue a career in carpentry. The course is based on block release of 2 weeks at the Kings Lynn campus. The rest of the time will be on site with the employer. The NVQ (or work based recorder) is a log of specific work carried out on site and can consist of reports, photographs, peer reports, drawings, diagrams etc. Site assessment visits will be carried out by tutors and the work based recorder. The extended diploma provides the underpinning knowledge for the practical work as well as practical assessments of carpentry models in the college workshops. There will also be unit tests throughout the 2 year course. There is an end of 2nd year multiple choice external on-line examination as well as a health and safety examination, both of which must be passed before the diploma is achieved.
