This course is designed for those who wish to pursue a career in the sport and active leisure industry. This qualification is seen as the entry level occupational qualification for the active leisure, learning and well-being sector. It is aimed mainly at young people or others who are new to sport and recreation and wish to achieve a qualification that reflects their competence in basic, introductory functions and responsibilities. Students will work towards reaching standards laid down by the sport and active leisure industry. Alongside the main qualification students will develop other employment and personal development skills ready for the world of work. Students also have opportunities to join sports academies, sports teams, sports clubs, contribute to sports events and be rewarded for volunteering through the Lead to Employability programme. There may also be opportunities for students to gain sports coaching and fitness instructor qualifications funding permitting. Students will work towards the following modules: Help to provide equipment for active leisure, learning and well-being activities Help to give good levels of service to participants and customers in active leisure, learning and well-being Deal with accidents and emergencies Help to plan and prepare an active leisure, learning and well-being session Lead an activity within an active leisure, learning and well-being session
