Dance - BTEC Level 3 Extended Certificate

UPDATED 20161124 12:27:45

In Dance you will study the three core strands of performance, choreography and appreciation from a vocational perspective, learning the skills a performer needs to progress to either higher level study or in some cases, initial entry into the industry. Practical work drives the course, but there is an element of reflective work, which does include some written assignments. You will take part in practical workshops and assessed performances to audiences as well as creating and presenting your own work. You will learn a range of practical skills and techniques across the three strands of dance as well as developing your awareness of yourself as a performer. You will focus on the work of established choreographers and develop your critical analysis skills and contextual understanding of their dance work as you undertake research and extended writing tasks. As the course progresses you will learn about body awareness and technical skill, developing self-confidence, creative thinking and analytical responses.
