The Extended Diploma in Sport and Exercise Science consists of 19 units. During the course you will study a range of health, fitness and sport units to gain knowledge in a variety of components. You will be regularly assessed, with work marked promptly and feedback given. The unit assessment is internally set and marked through practical observations and theoretical assignments. Examples of assessments methods used on this programme include observations, presentations, reports, posters and essays. Work Experience opportunity As part of the programme you will conduct a two week work placement in a Sport or Fitness environment. This will allow you to apply your theoretical knowledge into a practical work setting. Assignments will also be completed in relation to your work placement. Volunteer Hours You will have the opportunity to complete 30 hours working with the college sport enrichment team in supporting sport events, weekly sport and exercise enrichment sessions and supporting activities in the fitness suite. Enrichment Activities A range of Enrichment activities are incorporated within the programme. Examples of Enrichment activities conducted are sport activities, workshops, outings and debates. There is also the opportunity to request other enrichment activities that you have an interest in. I - Learning Sessions This is additional time embedded in your programme for independent study. This time is used to work through assignments, complete homework activities and conduct wider reading and research to assist learning. Support Tutorials Group and one to one tutorials are set up on the programme to further assist you with successfully completing the course. Support tutorials are at flexible times to meet your needs. This could occur during the daytime and evenings.
