English Literature (AQA Specification A) is an exciting and varied course - you get to study a range of drama, prose and poetry texts from all different time periods. At AS the focus of study is The Struggle for Identity in Modern Literature, consisting of both a coursework and exam unit. You study texts such as ‘The Handmaid’s Tale’ by Margaret Atwood and ‘A Streetcar Named Desire’ by Tennessee Williams. At A2 the focus changes to Love Through the Ages, again consisting of both a coursework and exam unit. You will study a Shakespeare text and compare this with two other texts (such as ‘Wuthering Heights’) and read a range of texts on the theme of love.
