Students can study AS Mathematics, A level Mathematics and AS Further Maths. The courses on offer include Core Maths, Mechanics, Statistics and Decision Maths. Essential knowledge and understanding of different areas of the subject and how they relate to each other. A deep appreciation of the skills, knowledge and understanding of Mathematical methods. What you will study The specification is divided into topics, each covering different key concepts of Maths: Core 1 Algebra, Geometry, Number, Trigonometry and Calculus. Core 2 Algebra 2, Radians, logarithms, Trigonometry 2 and Calculus 2. Core 3 Algebra 3, Exponentials, Transformations and Calculus 3. Core 4 Algebra 4, Vectors, Binomial Expansion and Calculus 4. Statistics 1 Probability, Regression, Normal Distribution, Data analysis. Mechanics 1 Kinematics, Dynamics, Vectors, Statics, Moments. Decision 1 Networks, Graph theory, Algorithms, Critical Path Analysis. Mathematics brings a lot of scientific theory and thinking together, and a good A Level grade in the subject demonstrates that a student can apply themselves in analytical thinking, practical skills and scientific writing; all of these qualities are highly prized in today's competitive job market.
