Context Students do not need any previous knowledge of Sociology: It is vital, however, that you have good literacy skills. Sociology prepares students for a lifetime of change by developing one's appreciation of diversity, love of learning, writing and study skills, as well as developing an in-depth understanding of human behaviour, social organisation, culture, and social change. Sociology helps us look more objectively at our society and other societies. It directs attention to how the parts of society fit together and change, and the consequences of that social change. If you are the type of person who doesn't necessarily follow the crowds (but are fascinated by their behaviour), the type who is truly interested in what is going on in the world, then Sociology is the subject for you. What you will study The specification is divided into units, each covering different key concepts of Sociology: AS Level Paper 1 - Education with Theory and Methods Paper 2 - Research Methods and Topics in Sociology (Families and Households) A Level Paper 1 - Education with Theory and Methods Paper 2 - Topics in Sociology (Families and Households and Beliefs in Society) Paper 3 - Crime and Deviance with Theory and Methods How You Will Be Assessed At A Level the course is comprised of 4 units which are assessed by three 80 mark exams which are 2 hours in duration.
