Context Drama and Theatre A Level is an opportunity to develop and refine performance skills, the appreciation of Theatre, and deepen understanding of plays and live performance work. Students will study set plays, live theatre as well as perform both scripted and devised work. Drama and Theatre studies promotes creativity, independence, team work, as well as analytical and evaluative skills all of which are vital in today's work market and within higher education. What you will study The specification is divided three components, each covering different key concepts of chemistry: Component 1 Drama and Theatre. This assesses knowledge and understanding of Drama and Theatre via the study of two set plays and a live piece of theatre seen. You will need to display good analytical and evaluative skills. Component 2 Creating original drama. This component requires students to create and perform a devised piece of drama influenced by the methodologies and work of a prescribed practitioner. Component 3 Making theatre. This is a practical exploration of play texts which will be performed, and the study of a prescribed practitioner. How You Will Be Assessed In A Level Drama and Theatre you are assessed in a variety of ways. 60% of the qualification comes from practical work, with one performance marked internally and moderated by AQA, and another marked by a visiting examiner. 40% of the grade is from a three hour final exam which will focus on the set plays studied and the live theatre seen.
