Context Students will explore a range of photographic processes and techniques following a thematic approach. Students will participate in structured photoshoots both in the photography studio and on location. Students will learn how to independently research relevant photographers and make personal responses. You will be taught how to analyse and evaluate key works of art and apply this to your own knowledge and practice. You will develop an ability to appreciate to the visual world, respond in a personal and creative way, and produce work that can be enjoyed by a wide audience. What you will study The specification is divided into two components: Component 1 (Personal Investigation) 50% Students will have opportunities to generate practical work, ideas and research from primary, secondary and contextual sources. You will experiment with media and processes, and develop and refine your ideas, presenting personal outcomes in an end of year exhibition. Component 2 (Externally Set Assignment) 50% Students will be set a broad based theme by Edexcel in February. They will be taught how to prepare for an outcome for the theme which will be produced during a 10 hour examination. How You Will Be Assessed There are four assessment objectives each worth 25%: Develop ideas informed by contextual sources Explore and refine use of materials and processes Record ideas and reflect on progress Present a successful outcome that realizes intentions
