This course is aimed at staff working directly with children and young people in a setting whose main purpose is to provide children and young people with opportunities for freely chosen, self-directed play. It is designed for those who are employed or who are volunteering to support play within a variety of play settings. You could use it to work with school-aged children in leisure centres, schools, holiday and afterschool clubs, Brownies, Guides, and Scouts, Sea Cadets or school lunchtime play facilitators. This qualification provides skills, knowledge and competence required to work in a supervisory role within the Play work sector. You will need to attend your play placement for the duration of the course whilst also attending monthly workshops which will cover the requirements for each assignment. This will also be supported by evidence you will build in your portfolio in the play placement. The observations and assignments will demonstrate your skills and knowledge within your role to allow you to achieve your qualification and progress to employment.
