This course builds on the Level 2 qualification and equips the prospective Automotive Technician with the knowledge of diagnostic procedures for modern vehicles. The diploma is delivered 50% in theory and 50% in practical and covers health, safety and good housekeeping, job roles within the automotive industry, materials and fabrication and vehicle system operation diagnostics in the following subjects: Light vehicle Engines, Light vehicle chassis systems, Light vehicle transmission and driveline systems, Light vehicle auxiliary electrical systems and Light vehicle engine overhauls. Delivery of the qualification is supplemented by visits to major industry manufacturers, museums and shows, this helps broaden your perspective of progression opportunities following successful completion of the course. In addition to your main course you will also study Functional Skills or GCSE English or Maths (dependent on current GCSE grade) and an industry recognised automotive electrical qualification which will provide you with skills for fitting and repairing the parts of modern electrical vehicle systems.
