This course is for those who enjoy reading and who wish to explore a wider range of texts and literary genres. At AS you will study four texts - two plays, a novel and poetry, under the title 'Aspects of Comedy'. At A2 you will revise three of these texts and also study novels and poetry in the Crime Writing genre. Unseen extracts will also be analysed, and activities include reading at home, detailed discussion of texts in class, debates, essay writing and trips to theatres and lecture days. The AS exam is taken at the end of Year 1. If you do not wish to continue with the subject you will have an AS qualification. Otherwise, if you choose to continue into the second year and gain your full A-level qualification at the end of the two year course. You will have a range of facilities available to you including; course books, on-site library, Moodle and English review. Theatre trips and lecture days in London are also available, along with guest speakers.
