This is a one year ‘Employability and Work Skills’ level 2 programme aimed at learners who do not achieve five A* to C GCSE grades, including a Level 4 in GCSE English (and a Level 4 in GCSE Mathematics). The BTEC qualifications have a strong vocational bias—these subjects give learners the opportunity to engage in learning that is relevant to them, whilst enabling the development of a range of skills, techniques and attributes essential for successful performance in working life. This qualification makes explicit the link between theoretical learning and the world of work by giving learners the opportunity to apply their research skills and knowledge to work-related contexts and case studies.
