AS Unit 1: Exploration of Drama and Theatre how will I be assessed? In this unit you will study through practical sessions two contrasting plays. You will have the opportunity to explore and develop drama skills whilst using theories from a range of practitioners and 'playing' with ideas. You will be assessed in various practical sessions in class as well as on a portfolio. Unit 2: Theatre Text in performanceIn this unit you will develop your performance skills to a significantly higher level than GCSE. You will rehearse a play in a group which will be performed to an audience and an examiner. You will also gain the skills to enable you to perform a monologue or a duologue for this examination. There is no written examination in Year 12. A2 Unit 3: Exploration of Dramatic performanceFor this unit you will work in groups to create a piece of original devised theatre. You will be assessed on your work in rehearsals, your final performance and a portfolio focused on your research and development of the piece. Unit 4: Theatre Text in PerformanceAlthough this is a written paper you will study one play from the perspective of a director, focusing on how you would rehearse and produce your own interpretation. The second element requires you to study a current live performance of a play and compare it to the original setting.
