Develop the creative and technical skills for a future in commercial design or illustration. You will focus on the theoretical and practical skills to take you to an industry level digital design standard. Your practical study will incorporate many traditional fine art based principles and techniques',' as well as developing industry level digital design ability. Through a series of projects',' you will explore digital and traditional illustration',' typography',' lettering',' layout',' editorial design and brand development. You will also be required to complete a contextual studies assignment',' and throughout you will develop your portfolio of work',' for your next educational step or employment. You will also be required to sit four externally set practical examinations over the two years. You will also have the opportunity to work on live briefs with businesses and charities within the community in order to develop a portfolio of commercial work. At the end of your second year',' your work will be exhibited in the College end of year show. Entry Requirements: Five GCSEs A*-C Grade',' must include English',' Maths and an art and design subject or a Level 2 First Diploma in Art and Design',' with C Grade GCSE in English and Maths. At an interview you will show us your portfolio of art',' design or photography work. You also need a positive recommendation or reference from your school/tutor. Career Options: Progression to higher education or a Foundation Diploma in Art and Design. Employment opportunities on completion of this course may include specialist apprenticeships',' or entry-level design jobs.
